Theater

This course is designed to introduce students to theater as an art form and to train them in the acting techniques of voice control and physical communication through character development. Classes are workshop in style and rely on active class participation. It is also the intention of this course to help students improve concentration and memorization skills and develop self-confidence.

This course is an introduction to American musicals and their various styles and forms. Composers, lyricists, librettists, directors, designers, choreographers, performers and producers will be studied. Using films, recordings, libretti and musical scores, musicals will be explored as a reflection of society and American popular culture. The skills required to be a musical theater artist (dance, singing, acting) will be put into practice in performance.

Notre Dame Academy's annual Fall Production provides opportunities for students to further develop their acting and performance skills.

Taking part in a stage production allows for creativity and camaraderie while building confidence and teamwork. 

All students in grades 7 through 12 are welcome and encouraged to participate.

The stage crew consists of students who manage all aspects of the production from stage manager to costume design to lighting and sound. Productions can include classics, comedies, farces and dramas.

Recent productions include adaptations of Little Women, Anne of Green Gables 
and The One-Act Play Disaster.

Dance Ensemble-Meets once a week for a dance class or rehearsal for various scheduled all school performances. Open to grades 7-12 all levels of dance.
